リー：準備万端でサヴァナに乗り込めるよう、何かないか探してくるよ。

I need to look around for a few things that’ll make sure we’re prepared when we get to Savannah.

 

クレメンタイン：それが良いね。安全なところだといいな。

That would be good. I hope it’s safe there.

 

リー：ああ、そうだな。

God, me too.

 

ベン：僕なんだ。

It was me.

 

リー：は？

Huh?

 

ベン：僕が盗賊に物資を渡してたんだ。

I was the one giving the bandits supplies.

リー：何だと？

WHAT?

 

ベン：全部僕のせいだ。

It’s all my fault.

 

リー：何のためだ？　何でそんなことしたんだ？

What for? Why the hell would you do this?

 

＊ここの「would」は仮定法の「would」です。意味としては「もしあなたが～をするとしたら、それはなぜですか？　普通そんなことしませんよね？」というニュアンスになります。しかも間に「the hell」を入れて文章を強調することによって、リーは「そんな事するなんて信じられない！」という気持ちを表しています。

ただ単に「なぜそれをしたの？」と聞くだけなら「Why did you do this?」でいいのです。

 

ベン：ヤツラ、僕の友達を捕まえてるって言ったんだ。そうじゃないって分かった時には手遅れで・・・僕を殺すって言ったんだ。皆殺しだって。ごめん、リー。

My hands hurt and my ears have noise in them. Like, eeeeeeee!

 

リー：慣れるさ。サヴァナのことを話したい。

You’ll get used to it. I wanna talk about Savannah.
