英語字幕・日本語訳 (p2 ティファと再会)

バレット：マリン！

Marlene!

 

マリン：父ちゃん！　帰ってきた！

Daddy! You’re home!

 

バレット：そうだ帰ってきたぞぉ！

That’s right angel, I am!

 

ティファ：おかえりなさい！

Welcome back!

 

バレット：いい子にしてたか？

Have you been a good girl?

 

マリン：うん、ティファのお手伝いをしてたの！

Yeah, I’ve been helping Tifa.

 

バレット：おお、そうかい？　よーしよし。

Oh you did, did you? Well, well…

 

ティファ：おつかれさま。

You made it.

 

ティファ：それどこで手に入れたの？ 本物を最後に見たのがいつだったか思い出せないわ。

Where’d you get that? I can’t remember the last time I saw a real one.

 

ティファ：優しいじゃない。いつからそんなに気が利くようになったの？

How sweet. When did you get so thoughtful?

 

■thoughtful (a) showing consideration for the needs of other people（形）〔人や行動が〕思いやりのある、心のこもった、気が利く

 

クラウド：少しは変わるさ。5年も経ってる。

A guy can change. Has been five years.

 

*「It has been five years.」という文で「It」が省略されています。

昔、日本語はよく主語が省略されるけど英語は必ず主語があると聞いたことがありますが、日常会話においては英語でもよく主語が省かれています。この「ファイナルファンタジー７リメイク」でも主語が省かれているセリフがバンバン登場します。

 

ティファ：え？

Huh?

 

クラウド：バレットと話があるんだ。

I need to talk to Barret.

 

ティファ：うん。入って。

Right. Come on in.

 

バレット：おい！　俺の娘を怖がらせるとは何やってんだテメェ？

Hey! The hell you think you’re doing scaring my daughter like that!?

 

■scare (v) to (make a person or animal) feel frightened（動）怖がらせる、びっくりさせる

 

マリン：父ちゃんが知らない人としゃべっちゃダメって言ったもん。

Daddy says never talk to strangers.

 

バレット：そのとおりだ、マリン。確かにそう言った。父ちゃんが教えたことちゃんと覚えてるなんて良い子だなぁ。良い子が他に何するか分かるか？　おやすみの時間をちゃんと守るのさ。さっ、ほら。

That’s right, honey, I do say that. What a good girl you are, remembering Daddy’s lessons. You know what else good girls do? They go to bed on time. C’mon.

マリン：でも疲れてないよ！　父ちゃんともっとおしゃべりしたい。

But I’m not tired! I wanna talk some more, Daddy…

 

バレット：うう・・・分かった――だが今回だけだぞぉ？

Mmm… Alright—but just this once!

 

ティファ：そうだ。何をお持ちしましょうか？

So, then! What can I get you?

クラウド：報酬を。待ちわびてるんだが。

My money. I’m still waiting on it.

ティファ：あっと・・・そうだよね・・・そのことだけど・・・ちょっと、外で話そう。

Ah… Right… About that… We should talk. Outside.

 

ティファ：お金の話に入る前にね・・・すぐこの先に部屋の空いてるアパートがあるの。全然しゃれたアパートじゃないけど、でも・・・差し当たって、そこで寝泊まりしたらどうかと思って。

Before we get onto money… There’s an empty apartment in a place just down the road. It’s nothing fancy, but… I was thinking you could stay there for now.

■down the road （フレーズ）この道の向こうに、この先の方で

■fancy (a) elaborate in structure or decoration（形）しゃれた

■for now (phrase) until a later time（フレーズ）差し当たり、現在のところ

 

ティファ：そこの大家さんが私たちの活動にすごく好意的なの。だから家賃だって払わなくていいの！　よくない？

The landlady’s a big friend of the cause, so you wouldn’t even have to pay rent! Sound good?

 

＊大家さんは、星を守るために戦う反体制派組織「アバランチ」の大義や活動の支持者ということです。
